An article from Diabetes Care says multiple studies were reviewed by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health assessing the risk of developing diabetes in 310,000 participants beginning in 1996 until 2010.
Those in the study who drank the most sugar sweetened beverages had a 26% greater risk of getting diabetes and a 20% higher risk of getting the metabolic syndrome (increased heart disease).
Some people think the using artificial sweeteners are dangerous and can also lead to obesity but there is no proof.
