In a recent blog, I wrote about the decrease in strokes in women who drank 2 or more cups of coffee daily.
Here is an interesting observation from the Archives of Internal Medicine 2011;171:1571-1578:
Here is an interesting observation from the Archives of Internal Medicine 2011;171:1571-1578:
50,000 nurses participated in a study from 1980 until 2004 to evaluate the risks of getting clinical depression. It appears that those who drank 2-3 cups of caffeinated coffee daily were 15% less likely to become depressed then those that drank less then 1 cup a week (4 cups daily decreased the risk by 20%) No woman was depressed at the start of the study.
There were no benefits associated with decaf coffee, no matter how many cups were consumed daily.
