Many companies have heeded the fact that the health of employees correlates directly with productivity, health insurance costs, absenteeism and accidents on the job. We applaud the trend to create Employee Wellness Teams and incentivized programs in the workplace, and in fact Kaizen provides excellent Corporate Wellness Programs. But what if your employer has no such program, or you are self-employed, or working from home? Then you have the opportunity to put on your own Body Boss hat and design a program for your own optimal health. You can include increasing your activity level and healthier food choices. Just like a Wellness Committee Chair, you can decide your goals and how to measure progress. Be sure to think like a boss and build in incentives and rewards. Have a weekly appointment with yourself to review your goals, note your progress and celebrate even the smallest Win. By making this a priority, you will gain strength and energy to better manage all your other jobs. Employees with high levels of physical well-being have more energy, get more done in less time and are more likely to be in a good mood.
